Are you in the market for Nissan extended warranties?

Then you have come to the right place for all you need to know about Nissan extended car warranties. We will take you through the options available, including third-party vehicle services contracts such as those offered here on Chaiz. Before we delve into all of that, let’s take a look at Nissan cars and how they made their entrance into the US market.

Nissan Cars in the US

Nihon Sangyo is a Japanese company that was first established in 1928. Nihon Sangyo debuted on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by its ticker name NISSAN in 1933. Eventually came to the US in 1958. At that time they were called Datsun.

In 1959, Datsun showcased its offering at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The company showed off a 1000 CC car and truck. The vehicles were a hit and lead to a notable global demand. Datsun began manufacturing cars in Mexico around 1966 in order to keep up with that demand. The popularity of the vehicles continued to grow.

By the 1980s, Datsun had made a serious name for themselves for trucks, sedans, and racing machines. It was and still is an affordable option for hard-working trucks and fast-moving sedans. All vehicles thereafter known as Nissan and the Datsun brand fell away. Today you can enjoy a number of Nissan vehicles thanks to early engineering and perseverance in R&D.

What are the Nissan extended car warranty options?

Nissan is one of those car brands that really try to offer the best in warranty plans. The company offers a fairly decent factory warranty at the original purchase of the vehicle. While also offers great options for people with older vehicles or those who have bought a used Nissan.

Nissan Factory Warranty

Nissan provides a fairly alright warranty with the original purchase of the vehicle. Vehicles receive a 3-year/36,000 miles limited warranty and a 5-year limited powertrain warranty. These basic warranties also come with seat belts and emissions protection.

Nissan Extended Warranty Options

So once your warranty comes to an end, what options do you have to have continued protection? There are three main options for the modern-day driver. The first of which is to take on the cost of repairs after a mechanical breakdown personally without any protection plan in place. This has its own advantages and disadvantages. One important aspect is the cost of repairs which we will get into a little further down.

The next option is to get an extended car warranty from Nissan directly. Nissan has a few options that are desirable and obviously offer repairs with OEM parts and certified mechanics for Nissan cars. Under the Nissan Security+Plus Extended Protection Plans, there are three plans to choose from. Those are the Gold Preferred, Silver Preferred, and the Powertrain Preferred. If you have bought a used vehicle, then you could look at the certified pre-owned plan from Nissan as well. Each plan comes with limited roadside assistance services. So it is a fairly decent offer in terms of warranties from a manufacturer.

Then the third option is to take out a vehicle service contract which can be purchased at any point for your vehicle after your factory warranty has come to an end. They are offered by a third-party company and are available in three different tiers which are the powertrain, powertrain plus, and most comprehensive warranties. Most comprehensive warranties are also referred to as bumper-to-bumper or exclusionary warranties, but they are not warranties. Many of the vehicle service contracts offered by the providers often have considerable roadside assistance services. With the wonderful flexibility in terms, you will certainly find the plan that best suits your budget and driving frequency. What is typically covered under the three tiers?

Most Comprehensive (bumper-to-bumper/exclusionary plans) - these are the most comprehensive plans that have the lowest terms and highest rates.

Powertrain Plus plans - these plans are a great midway choice, they cover critical parts with a few other systems and have reasonable rates.

Powertrain plans - these plans cover all the critical parts of your vehicle and have the longest terms with the most affordable rates.

Nissan Repair Costs

There is nothing nice about car repairs. Over the past two years, we have witnessed a rise in car repair costs, the highest it has been in 40 years. This means that fixing your car has become more expensive than the already heavy bills that can occur after a mechanical breakdown. On average you can expect to spend around $494 for a fuel pump, $1,808 for rack and steering repairs, and up to $4,164 for transmissions.

Nissan Extended Auto Protection Cost with Chaiz

Let’s take the Nissan Altima 2016 with about 45,000 miles on the odometer as an example. Depending on the plan that you go for you will be looking at between $38 to $90 dollars a month for coverage in the event of a mechanical breakdown. I’d say that is a pretty sweet deal, especially when you consider that you will likely have flat tire services and towing services for when you are stuck on the side of the road.

Extended auto protection for your Nissan is designed to alleviate the stress of having the repair bills occurring under unforeseen circumstances. Taking into account that mechanical issues do tend to happen in an unpredictable way it may be beneficial to shop around for the coverage that will suit your needs. Use the Chaiz search tool to find the best plan for you.
